The promises we make before we start.
Every engagement at insightfunnudge.life is governed by a public set of guidelines. They are how we decide what to recommend — and what to refuse.
1. We do not design dark patterns.
If a proposed intervention works because it confuses, hurries, or exploits a user, we will not build it. This includes hidden defaults, pressure timers without purpose, manipulative scarcity, and obscured consent flows.
2. Defaults must be defensible.
Any pre-selected option in work we touch must be the option we would recommend to a thoughtful friend. We document the reasoning behind every default we set.
3. Experiments are pre-registered.
Hypothesis, sample size, and success metric are written down before data is collected. Negative results are reported with the same care as positive ones.
4. Vulnerable users are weighted, not averaged.
We measure outcomes specifically for users in financial distress, low digital literacy, or otherwise reduced agency. A lift that improves the average while harming this group is, to us, a failure.
5. We will say no.
We have declined work from gambling, predatory lending, and engagement-maximisation products. We will keep doing so. This is not a marketing position; it is a working principle.
6. Clients own the work.
All research, reports, and intervention designs are handed over in full. We retain no proprietary methods that prevent you from continuing the work without us.
7. We publish what we learn.
Where clients permit, we share methodology and findings in our quarterly field notes — so the wider practice of behavioral design improves alongside our own.
